Your Child's Academic Success at Castle Park Middle

Academic achievement is up to us ALL: parents and guardians, the children themselves, and the entire school staff at CPMS. There's a lot you can do to help your student get off to a great start this school year....AND to continue your student on the path of CPMS success. Remember, YOU are your student's FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT TEACHER.

* GET Involved and Stay Involved

Do whatever you can to keep actively involved with your student's school. Keep in touch with the teachers and keep up on your student's schoolwork by checking and signing the CPMS planner. Read the planner information to help reinforce our rules, procedures amd policies for student expectations.

* HELP CPMS Help You

Make sure all the information regarding your student and emergency information is correct. If your schedule or work changes inform the school at once. Send a note to your student's teachers indicating the best way for you to recieve information. Check teacher web pages to communicate with them through e-mail.

* MAKE Attendance Important

Be sure your student gets to school on time every day. Try to keep your student home from school ONLY due to illness. Make ALL appointments after or before school. Stress the value of attending classes and how it helps your student to learn and perform better and enjoy school more.

* KEEP Your Student Healthy

Do your best to keep your student in good health so he/she doesn't have to miss school. See that your child has an adequate breakfast, whether at home or as part of a school breakfast program. Keeping your student healthy also calls for nourishing meals and snacks at home, plenty of exercise, and enough rest. Schedule your child's checkups and immunizations before and after school.

* SHOW Lots of Love

Your student needs your love every day and in every way. In both words and actions, show your student that you are there when needed. Feeling loved helps build your student's self-confidence, and on that foundation learning can best take place.

* BE a Positve Role Model

Let your student see how much you value education. Show your enthusiam for all the opportunities that our school provides. Encourage your student to share your good attitude about school.

*MAKE Home a Learning Zone

In the afternoon or evening set up a study 'place' in your home so that your student can do homework and learn comfortably. Make sure that TV is not a distraction from learning.

*KEEP Your Child Safe

Teach your student about safety at home, school and anytime away. Remind your student not to talk to strangers or to go anywhere with them. Keep your student's records updated, medically, with pictures and even fingerprints.
